Do you remember growing up in elementary school and having Field Day? It was an annual tradition at my school and one we looked forward to. We all broke up into teams and competed in various activities around the school yard, from red rover to scooter races to relay races around cones. The one thing I always remembered is that our principal would buy clothing blanks in bulk and we’d each get t-shirts that were different colors to let everyone else know which team we were on.
If you’re running your own field day for a school, it’s a great idea. First of all, it makes it easy for the kids to know who is on whose team. Sometimes, when we got confused, we may have thought we were scoring a point for our team but accidentally helping the others! It’s much easier for young kids to recognize different colors than try to remember all the faces of who is on their team.
It’s also easy for teachers to get kids organized. When you can just yell out the color of their blank clothing and get them to line up accordingly, it’s going to make life easier. So throw a colorful field day!
