Making Your Own Stencils for Blank Clothes

Being creative is the name of the game with clothing design. So you want to get ahead of everyone else and offer designs that no one else has seen. Perhaps you’ve got some great ideas but you aren’t sure how to implement them on your blank clothes? It’s pretty easy to make your own stencils instead of relying on the bulk ones you can buy anywhere.

You can easily create your design on a paint program. Photoshop is easily one of the best programs available, so I’d recommend using it. Just make sure you keep in mind where the cuts of the design need to be so it doesn’t fall apart. Then when you print use paper as thick as a card stock. You can cut out your design, place the new stencil on blank clothes and spray paint in whatever color you choose.

Just make sure you cover the rest of the shirt properly so you don’t get excess paint in areas you don’t want it. Using cardboard or newspaper can really help with this.

Experiment a bit with size on a few blank shirts that are throwaways. You may find a stencil is too big, or looks better a little smaller and placed on the back, etc. Take the time to figure out what looks best!
